Dona Maria
Situated in Alentejo, this palace-like 18th century house is a landmark, not only for its beauty but also for its history and the top-quality wine produced there. Wine has been produced in this estate for more than 150 years, but it’s at the start of the new millennium that Júlio Bastos embraced this new project: Dona Maria Wines.
The ancient estate winery has been restored, keeping the 19th century marble “lagares” where selected grapes are vinified using the traditional foot treading method, and where the famous Alicante Bouschet is produced.

Clear, yellow citrine color. Tropical fruits with hints of citrus fruits. Elegant, rich flavor consisting of fruits with a good balance of acidity, leading into a refined, persistent finish.
Bright violet color. Complex red berries, toasted, with notes of over ripe plums. Rich red berry flavor with great persistence. This wine is well-balanced, rounded and structured that will allow it to age well.
Beautiful golden and lemon-green color. Well integrated light French oak, with mango, orange and pear aromas. Quite silky, showing a very good balance and structure. Very nice acidity and persistent finish.
Beautiful, dark ruby color. Very complex mix of ripe raspberries and blackberries. Rich and spicy with red berry flavors, very elegant, silky tannins and very long finish.
