Finca El Encinal was created in 2000 by the Eguizabal Family who also own and operate Bodegas Franco-Españolas, one of the great wineries in La Rioja region of Spain. The winery, located in the town of Quintana del Pidio, is one of the most modern wineries in the prestigious Ribera del Duero region.
Currently, the winery has 124 acres of its own vineyards located in the Valladolid province, which has an average altitude of 2,100 feet above sea level. The vineyards, whose vines have an average age of 30 years and have been planted on sand and clay soil, solely grow Tempranillo (locally known as Tinta Fina).
All wine is produced using the traditional system but with modern technology. The winery’s cellar contains 1,600 medium-toasted American Oak casks for aging these beatufil wines.
