Laurent Theodule

Laurent Theodule

About the Brand

Discovering a new producer in Valle d’Aosta is a true rarity. Tucked into dramatic, high-altitude slopes and farmed almost entirely by hand, this is one of Italy’s smallest and most extreme wine regions—where new names rarely emerge. Laurent Théodule is one of those rare finds.

Perched on the sun-drenched, gravity-defying slopes of Verrayes and Chambave, Laurent’s story begins long before his first vintage. His grandfather Marcello planted the family’s first vines in the 1990s, farming heroically in the mountains and quietly selling grapes to the local cooperative. The torch passed to Laurent’s parents, Lidia and Sandro, who doubled down on the region’s native varieties and safeguarded centuries-old viticultural traditions—always with an eye toward the next generation.

That next generation arrived early. At just 20 years old, Laurent took over the family vineyards and started pushing higher—literally and figuratively. New plantings followed, expanding the estate to four precious hectares of steep, alpine vineyards where every vine is worked by hand and every harvest is earned.

In 2023, Laurent made the leap from grower to producer, releasing his first two wines: Chambave Muscat and Chambave Rouge. These are true mountain wines—tense, expressive, and shaped by altitude, sun, and stone. Rooted in deep local history yet driven by a young producer’s vision, they capture the raw beauty of Valle d’Aosta.
